Our mission

Well House provides safe, affordable housing to the homeless. We recognize that each individual has their own unique needs and challenges, and that a “one size fits all” approach is often a barrier to housing.

Renovations

Help us fix up houses to provide more homes. Regardless of your skill level, there are always tasks that need to be accomplished, from routine maintenance to major renovation.

Urban Farming

From planting to harvest, weeding to watering, many hands are needed to grow the food that comprises 25% of the food that comes to the table.

Each new Well House home needs to be furnished. Your new or gently used goods are greatly appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off at 600 Cass SE, Monday- Thursday, from 1 pm until 4 pm. Please contact us if a different time is necessary.

How you help

You can support Well House by donating funds to help us purchase and rehabilitate vacant homes, volunteering your time to assist with our Urban Farm or home renovation projects, or advocating for our mission by sharing our work with your network to raise awareness about homelessness in Grand Rapids. Your contributions enable us to expand our housing initiatives, hire residents for meaningful work, and maintain our commitment to sustainable practices like recycling and energy conservation. Every effort, whether financial, hands-on, or vocal, strengthens our ability to provide immediate housing solutions and foster long-term community resilience.
About us

At Well House, we believe the solution to homelessness is housing. Our model is simple: we purchase vacant, boarded-up houses and bring them back to life. We move in our neighbors who need housing the most: those who are living on the streets or in emergency shelters. Whenever possible, we hire our tenants to help with the rehabilitation of the houses.
