Macomb Foster Closet

Macomb Foster Closet helps children in foster care by providing essential items like clothing, diapers, and school supplies, ensuring they have the basics to feel secure and valued. Community members can contribute by donating new or gently used items, organizing drives for high-need items like socks and underwear, or making financial contributions to cover operational costs. These efforts directly support foster families and help children transition into care with dignity and resources.

Every day in the state of Michigan, abused, neglected, and abandoned children are introduced to foster care. In fact, there are more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States and over 12,000 in Michigan alone! Almost all of these children will enter the foster care system with just the clothes on their backs, making it necessary to replace essential items very quickly. Providing them with a full wardrobe and the extras they need can give a child a sense of belonging and dignity that is so important during this time of transition. For many foster families though, the cost of doing this can be prohibitive. That’s where the Macomb Foster Closet and our amazing donors come in – we help fill the gap.
